Welcome!
I'm Bryan Johnson.
Thank you for taking the time to view my work and to get to know me a bit.
Photography has been a passion of mine since 1985 when I received my first 35mm film SLR camera, the Nikon N2000, from my father as a Christmas gift. It was great! I went through countless rolls of film experimenting with that camera. It was a lot of fun and I used that camera for over 20 years! Nowadays, I mostly shoot Nikon digital cameras. The image quality of digital has exceeded film in most regards.
I would describe my photographic style as primarily photo-journalistic. I love capturing candid moments of people doing what they do best – being people! I like to be as unnoticed and unobtrusive as possible when shooting weddings and events. Although I always shoot full color images, I really enjoy black and white photography. When you remove the color from a photograph, I think the true essence of the image is revealed. And I love the nostalgic, classic feel of black and white images. There’s just something about them that seems to speak to you that color does not convey. Of course, color still has its place and I’ll always continue to work with color. For me, it is really the content of the image that determines whether it will be stronger in color or in black and white. It’s all good!
I am a self-taught photographer. I do it because I enjoy it. It is especially rewarding when I can produce memories for someone that they will enjoy for a lifetime. It’s a great feeling. I’m not the type of photographer that just shows up because he has to - I’m there because I want to be there. I want to be a part of the process of making memories for people.
